The answer is sorption.<\/p>\n

The difference with MetaFLO\u2019s sorption process is the incorporation of our cutting edge chemistry with our proprietary, ultra high-shear mixing systems. Also, our collection of environmentally friendly, engineered reagent blends allows us to choose the right solution for each waste stream in order to achieve the most efficient liquid waste solidification process possible.<\/p>\n

Types of Sorption<\/h3>\n

There are two types of sorption. The first is one everyone knows about which is \u2018absorption\u2019. Of course this is what you use a sponge or paper towel for. Wikipedia describes absorption as: “the incorporation of a substance in one state into another of a different state”\u00a0(e.g.,\u00a0liquids being absorbed by a\u00a0solid or gases\u00a0being absorbed by a liquid).<\/p>\n

The other type of sorption is \u2018adsorption\u2019, described as the physical adherence or bonding of\u00a0ions\u00a0and\u00a0molecules\u00a0onto the surface of another phase (e.g., reagents adsorbed to a solid\u00a0catalyst surface). This is what you\u2019re doing when you add kitty litter to a patch of oil in your driveway.<\/p>\n
