Our client was receiving fluid from frac operations for disposal directly into their landfill. The fluid had very low solids content <15%. The previous solidification method was to dump the fluid into a pit and mixing fly ash at a 2:1 ratio. The bulked up waste was then moved into a landfill cell for final disposition. The water catchment system was overloaded due to the ineffective solidification method and was destabilizing the landfill with water volume.

MetaFLO mobilized to site with our LMS 3 high shear mixing unit and flocculent. The vacuum truck offloaded the frac water waste into a recessed container. This fluid was then pumped through the LMS 3 to deliver our flocculent to the waste stream phase separating water from the solids at a .0015 wt/wt addition rate of a clay based MetaFLO flocculent.

结果

After treatment, the client received excellent water clarity / low turbidity in the separated brine water. The treated water was then pumped into a 20,000 gallon tank to be returned to the drillers for beneficial reuse. A small amount (<3%) of brine tolerant reagent was added to the separated semi-solids to fully solidify this phase for disposal in landfill as a firm, earth-like material.
